đđ đđđđđđđđđ đđđ
it was one of the few days zayne had returned home earlier than sunset. he opened the door to the apartment to find you painting your nails. after a shower and some short pleading on your part, he was seated in front of you, hands laid out on the table for you to do his nails.
content: zayne x fem!reader; established relationship; small banter! ; greyson apperance; ~1k words a/n: i've been dipping in and out of writing, so i thought i'd make something short to get me back into practice :)
âââââââââââââââââââââ
âHand tremors arenât good for dexterity, you know,â Zayne quipped, gazing at your expression as you applied the polish.
You looked up at him through your lashes and he smirked at the flat stare you gave him. With a slight tilt of his head, he enjoyed how animated your reactions were to his remarks. Towel-dried hair brushed past his brows, framing his discerning hazel eyes. Did he always need to be this handsome while poking fun at you? Your hands werenât shaky before, but they certainly felt so now.
âOh hush.â
Putting the brush back in the bottle to collect more polish, you reset your focus.
âJust âcause youâre a surgeon, doesnât mean youâd make a good nail artist,â you retorted, bringing your eyes back to your work.
You were currently on the last nail, painting it a navy blue to match the others you already finished. Zayneâs nails were well kept and trimmed short, making for a perfect canvas for you. Whilst it was rare for surgeons to wear polish, he assured that it wouldnât be an issue so long as it did not chip. He wanted you to do it for him, anyway. Having your undivided attention on him was a perfect way to unwind after a long day at the hospital.
âAnd what other qualifiers need to be met besides a still hand?â he asked, teasing giving way to curiousity.
You finished up the last nail with a few glides of the brush. âAn eye for aesthetics,â you declared, moving the blue nail polish aside and selecting two more colours among your collection.
âNow, pick the colour for the design.â
You presented two colours to him. A cool silver embedded with fine glitter, and a rustic gold. His eyes flicked between the two. Mind having been made up almost the second you asked.
âSilver.â
You hummed. âAn excellent choice.â Shaking the polish, the glitter dispersed throughout. âPerhaps you might consider nail tech as a side job, Dr Zayne.â
Waiting for his nails to dry before you could begin the next layer, you lightly fanned them with both your hands. He chuckledâboth at your comment and your cute attempt to try and speed the drying process.
âMy primary job keeps me busy enough,â he replied. âBesides, I donât have much of an eye for aesthetics.â
You were reminded of the palette of his closet. Blacks, greys, browns, and the only splash of colour being a deep green shirt. Though somewhat monotone, it did suit him well.
He continued, âI think Iâll leave that expertise up to my girlfriend.â
Your breath caught in your throat. Mouth opened ever so slightly, not wanting to reveal the way every use of that nickname slipped under your skin and made your heart skip.
You began to draw tiny snowflakes on each of them with the silver polish. Zayne admired the furrowed concentration on your face as you were locked into this task. When the design had dried, you finished by squeezing some cream onto his hands. He let out a soft sigh as you massaged it in, feeling the tension of the day release under your gentle touch.
Once you were done, you stretched your arms out and twisting around to crack your back. You held his fingers in your hands, inspecting them.
âLook how pretty they are!â You bubbled.
Zayne was honestly floored. The level of coordination it took to paint something so small was incredible.
âTheyâre very pretty indeed.â
You were too enthralled by your own work to see the warm smile on his face at how satisfied you were.
âNow, thatâll be sixty dollars,â you said, looking up at him smugly, placing your hands on your hips in waiting.
Zayne lifted a brow. âDo you accept payment in desserts?â
âHm⌠an interesting offer,â you placed a hand on your chin in mock thought. âWhat kind?â
âWill each flavour of macaron at the shop that just opened suffice?â he replied. The sparkle in your eyes signalled that it was more than enough to cover the cost of your service. Promptly, the two of you went outside to resolve his payment. You walked hand in hand, matching one another with freshly painted nails.
âââââââââââââââââââââ
EPILOGUE
At Akso Hospital the next day, peoplesâ gazes lingered a little too long on Zayne. As he handed out folders to nurses and gestured to screens when presenting, eyes trailed on his hands. Now, it wasnât unusual for doctors to wear polish, but it was unusual for Zayne to have it. Another layer of mystery to unravel about the cardiac surgeon.
Greyson entered Zayneâs office to drop off some documents, sliding them towards him on his desk. âGoing to some fancy event later?â
Zayne adjusted his glasses, not looking away from his computer screen. âUnless you consider a seminar at the university as fancy, Iâm not sure what youâre implying.â
He gestured towards the keyboard Zayne was typing on. âIâm talking about your nails! Donât tell me you really just got them done for fun?â Greyson asked, incredulous.
âI did.â Zayne splayed his hand out. âIs that so strange?â
âNo! Not at all!â Greyon reassured, shaking his head fervently. âThey do look nice though,â he admitted. âMaybe I should get their number so I can get mine done too.â
âShe doesnât take up new clientele, unfortunately,â Zayne said, resuming his typing.
At such a quick defence, Greyson immediately clocked who this person was. He was one of the few that were privy to the relationship between you and Zayne, and he knew only you could make Dr Zayne change up his style.
Exaggerating a sigh, he turned to leave. âA true shame! She sure seems talented.â
âIâll make sure to pass that on to her,â he heard Zayne reply. Though his back was to Zayne, the smile in his voice as he answered was undeniable.

FAMOUS FASHION DESIGNER ââ .⌠๨ŕ§
a/n: a anon request (here) thought of this because why not and now weâre running up and new!
(tags: batboys x famous fashion!fem!reader) (non-comedy, a request)
#BRUCE WAYNE ââ .âŚ
- Bruce would respect your work, of course, but his deep-seated desire to protect you from the dangers of the vigilante life might make him overly cautious around you.
- He admires your ability to juggle both a successful career and maintain a life outside the public eye. However, he might find your fame a little too much for his liking.
- Bruce would frequently give you advice about public image, though he might not always understand the intricacies of the fashion world. His attempts to help you stay âlow-keyâ could lead to some interesting clashes when you ignore his advice for the sake of creativity.
- Even though he keeps his distance emotionally, Bruceâs underlying support would be thereâwhether itâs subtly clearing paths for you at high-profile events or pulling strings to make sure youâre protected during risky fashion shows.
#DICK GRAYSON ââ .âŚ
- Dick would totally be your biggest cheerleader. Heâd attend your shows, sit front row, and gush over how amazing you look in every outfit. Heâs your unofficial ambassador in Gotham.
- He loves how you balance being both stylish and authentic. If you're out in public together, he's the one holding your hand while flashing his famous grin, proudly showing off your connection.
- Dick loves hearing your ideas for design, and he would often try to convince you to design something for himâthough he'd probably want a superhero version of it (he just wants nightwing merch đ)
- Heâd love surprising you with flowers or rare vintage pieces as a way of showing appreciation for your work.
#JASON TODD ââ .âŚ
- Jason has a complicated relationship with fame. Heâd definitely be a little reluctant to dive into the world of the media that youâre part of, but he respects your talent.
- Heâs drawn to how independent and self-sufficient you are. As someone whoâs been through a lot, he sees a lot of strength in you that aligns with his own struggles.
- Jason might surprise you by buying something from your collection, but it would be a limited edition or something very bold that stands out. Heâd love a darker, edgier piece thatâs still functional (you had to convince him to not fill his fucking closet with leather jackets)
- When it comes to fashion shows, heâd be your quiet supporter in the background, always watching your back while youâre in the spotlight. Heâd prefer to be near you but stay out of the mediaâs glare.
#TIM DRAKE ââ .âŚ
- Tim would absolutely admire your business sense. Heâd be impressed by how you manage the complexities of being a famous designer while keeping your personal life secure.
- He would offer his expertise on marketing, analytics, and tech side of things, maybe even help you design a cutting-edge website or app to engage with your fans.
- While he might not be as openly affectionate as Dick or Jason, Tim would show his support by attending your shows, helping out behind the scenes, or even sending you design critiques (in a non-judgmental, constructive way).
- Heâd be interested in the logic behind your designs and how you conceptualize your collections, seeing it as a kind of puzzle to solve.
#DAMIAN WAYNE (aged up) ââ .âŚ
- Damian would initially be skeptical of the fashion world and would likely think itâs an unnecessary distraction from what really matters. However, he canât help but be impressed by your discipline and work ethic.
- While he doesnât understand the appeal of fame, he respects your skill and will quietly defend you against anyone who criticizes your designs.
- Damian would always want you to wear something practical, but he has a certain fascination with your ability to make anything look elegant, even if itâs just casual attire.
- He might buy you a piece of rare armor or something useful from his own collection as a way of blending his world with yours. Itâs his way of saying he sees the importance of your craftâeven if heâs not vocal about it, just so he can mix it up yk?

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 157 (Coping Without Ash)
It had been almost a week since Ash's escort to the Landgraabs in the city. They weren't even allowed to call him, and Heather moved through the house in a walking haze. She forced herself to eat for the sake of their unborn child and doted on Lavender despite her depression, but she withdrew from her usual nature.
Conrad and her family were deeply concerned, and her mother, Daisy, arrived in the Bay with Holly, Betta, and a few suitcases. Heather's close-knit family was determined to help her through this, and they planned to stay until after the baby was born.
Normally, Conrad might object to packing their home with so many people and pets with a newborn on the way, but he hated seeing Heather like this. He hoped her family could help, but he knew, deep down, the only thing she needed was Ash.
"I talked to Felix today," he said, as they shared a cheesecake made by Daisy to follow dinner. Heather looked up, listening without a word. "He said he's found some interesting things during discovery, and he's confident about our hearing in San Myshuno."
"Did he say what he meant?" asked Daisy, but Conrad shook his head as Daisy frowned. "I just can't get past the Landgraabs pulling this after everything!"
Though she'd tried to hold it together for Heather's sake, Daisy couldn't hold back a sob while they gathered around the table.
"Why you sad, Gramma? Ash isn't gone for always. He'll be back."
"Of course he will."
Conrad got up from the table to clear a few plates, trying to remain strong in the face of Heather's crumbling facade. But he was processing grief in his own way over the ordeal, switching between anger and stoicism in rapid swings. (Seriously he's been all over the place.)
Heather went to bed early after giving Gord a bath, so Daisy and Holly hung out with Lavender and Betta when Conrad was called to a crime scene. To say they were managing without Ash around was barely accurate, but they knew they couldn't give up yet.
In Britechester, Felix and Lilith were feeling the loss of Ash's genius expertise, too. Lilith had welded the time travelling component, but now she was trying to use Ash's notes to program it to her computer and calculate a landing point. She was struggling.
"When is the custody hearing? It'll be real nice when we can finally talk to Ash again about all this."
"Next week," said Felix, strumming a silly song on Lilith's guitar.
"Stop being a goofball for a minute and take this seriously," she begged, trying not to laugh at him anyway. "Emit thinks our tech's too primitive and doesn't know enough about it to help - if he could even find the time out from underneath my sister."
"You think they're falling for each other?"
"They keep saying they're just having fun, but I know my sister. Angela wants happily ever after and she likes Emit, but she's afraid to get attached."
Felix nodded. "That's fair, isn't it? He is a time traveler, and once we help him catch his time thief, he'll go back to the future."
Lilith frowned. She turned back to her computer just as the screen flashed and turned blue, spilling code across the monitor and shocking her fingertips through the keyboard. "Dammit, I just fried it and it tried to fry me!"
Felix put down the guitar and smiled. "It's okay, Lil. Ash has already invented time travel, we just have to prove it works. Take a break, your parents are making dinner. Then see if Emit knows anything about our "primitive" computers. I think Angela's busy working out, so you should find him unoccupied for the time being."
Lilith took his advice and headed for a soak in the tub. While she relaxed, Felix repaired the computer. He was still holding on to the engagement ring, still waiting for the perfect moment to propose. But they were too distracted lately by time travel and Ash's custody case.
Emit did prove helpful with the computer, teaching Lilith how to overclock it to process Ash's codes and calculations.
"I can't say for sure the code's right, but I know a ten-year-old coming up with half of this is amazing. I trust the parts even I don't understand because so few in this time could know any of this."
"So you think we're almost ready to travel through time?" Lilith's earlier frustrations had turned back to hope.
"We could leave as soon as you're done with the custody hearing. My wristboard is still tracking the time thief, but with with two working devices, we'll head them off anywhere in time they think they can hide."
With a buzz of excitement running through their veins, Lilith and Felix shared a smile and a searing kiss. "Can you believe it? As soon as Ash is back with his parents, we're going to jump through time!"
Felix had lived through more decades than he could count, but experiencing the future - or the past - with his beloved Lilith sounded like the adventure of a lifetime. ->

NOTE: In the interest of full disclosure, I don't know if any mods out there connect a custody battle with grief moodlets and these moodlets for Conrad actually followed the death of Ben. Heather grieved Ben, too, but she was more muted and dazed, understandably, because she didn't know him as well. But grief moodlets can be persistent and Conrad was still going through it during this time, so I mean no disrespect to Ben (really!) but I usurped those moodlets for my plot, and their grief styles informed how I wrote this arc.

yuji x reader | masterlist
01: nice binder goob
you arrived at jujutsu tech in early february, it gives you about 4 months to plan an assassination of sukunas vessel, a first year student named yuuji itadori.
your tactical boots specialized in traction and protection crunch the winter leaves below you. its just about 6am, you woke up early today.
you plan out the killing in your head. come to think about it 4 months is a lot isnt it? you typically like making it quick and simple, although you have little experience in actual killing people.
perhaps bidding your time would be the best option. jujutsu tech is filled with many powerful individuals who would most likely kill her if they knew her intentions. your biggest fear is the 10 shadows user, he appears to have the closest relationship to sukunas vessel.
at around 7am she arrived outside the classroom, where gojo sensei would be waiting to introduce her to the measly 3 first year students inside.
âeverybody!â gojo shouts at a volume way too loud for 7 in the morning. âwe have a new student! give her a round of applause!â
sukunas vessel and kugisaki clap lamely while fushiguro makes no attempt to indulge in gojos acts.
you enter the classroom and bow slightly before walking to the single empty desk. âthats yn zenin! which puts the first year class at 4 students! hooray!â gojo shouts.
you have no intention on talking to the other students, or anyone for that matter. while gojo talks about paired missions all you can do is fight the urge to fall asleep, maybe waking up early was a bad idea.
âok! we have an even number of students soooâŚ! were gonna do paired missions! nobara and megumiii in one pair and ill supervise yuji and yn!â
is gojo ever quiet.
oh, me and sukunas vessel?
thats good. i could probably kill him easily. what about the veil though? i surely wouldnt be let out if gojo is supervising.
well its still good to figure out some information about sukunas vessel.
you enter the car driven by gojo, the mission you were assigned to is a grade 2 curse in an abandoned hospital about 45 minutes away. you stare out the window on to the dense forest near the road.
the car stops before gojo tells you and sukunas vessel to get out of the car. you stretch slightly when getting out due to sitting for too long before starting to walk to the mission site.
gojo lowers his veil trapping you and sukunas vessel, hopefully he doesnt like. kill you or smth.
you walk around looking for a 2nd grade curse, checking the patients rooms, waiting room, the roof. although you just cant put your finger on where it is.
while youre looking, sukunas vessel keeps blabbering on and on, to the point where youre starting to tune him out.
he taps your shoulder which throws you off guard, causing you to step back away from him quickly.
âjust trying to ask a questionâ sukunas vessel says.
i thought he was gonna kill me. he couldve just now.
âwhat.â
âwhy did you become of a sorcerer?â
theres a brief silence before you say. âits none of your businessâ
âthats fine, you remind me of fushiguro in a way! youre both very grumpy you know?â
after about a couple minutes of fighting with the curse you end up surviving the mission relatively unharmed, sukunas vessel took most of your heavy hits for you.
you and sukunas vessel end up both going to ms leiri for her expertise in reverse cursed technique. not that you needed it, you just tagged along.
you tagged along because you had to. not because you wanted to.
you, the other 2 firsts years, and sukunas vessel get treated to. revolver sushi. or something similar to that. you expected this is be a gun shop or maybe the name of a brand, not a type of restaurant.
âwhat you and kugisaki never been to a revolving sushi place? you have to go its so cool! its for the experience!â (ita)
âthey dont have those where i grew up. revolving sushi is cheap isnt it? lets go somewhere expensive since gojo sensei is payingâ (kugi)
âbut i want it! its not about how expensive it is, its about the experience!â (ita)
âyou say that until you get food poisoning.â (kugi)
âyou agree with me, right zenin!??â (ita)
you shake your head in disagreement.
âsee i told you! zenin agreed, were gonna get steak!â (kugi)
âwhen did zenin agree to get steakâ (fushi)
âshut your mouth.â (kugi)
extra!
lol im so stupid instead of zenin i use ln frigg
can u tell dialogue is my least fav thing ever. ngl everything non smau is.mmmlol
my friend said i was the type to read ao3 and bl. i ask her hiw did she know what that meant and she was like. i have my sources. ok freak

Winx Yuu and Dorm Leaders

Yuu and Riddle
Yuuâs celestial aura and calming presence contrast starkly with Riddleâs strict demeanor. Initially, Riddle struggles with how unbothered Yuu is by rules, though he secretly admires their self-discipline.
Yuu helps Riddle learn to relax a bit, often suggesting stargazing as a way to unwind.
Riddle respects Yuuâs magical expertise and often seeks their input during problem-solving.
When Riddle gets flustered by his own emotions, Yuuâs soothing tone and gentle teasing help him regain composure.
Yuu and Leona
Leona pretends not to care about Yuuâs celestial powers, but heâs low-key fascinated by their ability to âoutshine the sun.â
Yuu isnât intimidated by Leonaâs gruff nature and often challenges him with dry humor, which earns his grudging respect.
They bond over their shared appreciation for napsâYuu prefers lounging under the stars while Leona enjoys the warmth of the sun.
Leona sometimes asks Yuu to use their magic to light up dark caves or assist in âlazyâ strategies which is usually distracting Cheka from him, so he can nap more.
Yuu and Azul
Azul is captivated by Yuuâs cosmic magic and immediately tries to strike a deal to learn more about it. Yuu, however, can see through his schemes and politely declines.
Yuu finds Azulâs business acumen impressive but occasionally teases him about his dramatic tendencies.
Azul is slightly envious of Yuuâs effortless charm but grows to respect their honesty and kindness.
Yuu occasionally partners with Jade and Floyd to âplayfully keep Azul humble.â
Yuu and Kalim
Kalim is immediately drawn to Yuuâs sparkly aesthetic and cheerful personality, often calling them a âwalking shooting star.â
Yuu appreciates Kalimâs infectious positivity and helps him channel his energy into meaningful endeavors.
They enjoy flying togetherâKalim on his magic carpet and Yuu with their celestial wingsâracing through the skies and laughing the entire time.
Yuu often acts as a calming influence during Kalimâs more party life moments, making him feel safe and understood.
Yuu and Vil
Vil initially judges Yuuâs celestial aesthetic with a critical eye but ultimately declares them a âradiant masterpiece of the cosmos.â which Yuu deems as high praise.
Yuu admires Vilâs confidence and discipline, often seeking his advice on presentation and poise.
Vil finds Yuuâs ethereal nature mesmerizing but occasionally lectures them on the importance of grounded beauty as well.
They bond over their shared pursuit of perfection, often inspiring each other to balance inner and outer beauty.
Yuu and Idia
Idia is equal parts fascinated and intimidated by Yuuâs celestial aura, describing them as âan RPG boss character with maxed-out charisma stats.â
Yuu gently encourages Idia to step out of his comfort zone, though theyâre patient and never push him too far.
Idia loves discussing space exploration and futuristic tech with Yuu, who enjoys listening to his enthusiastic ramblings.
Yuuâs dreamy personality helps Idia feel less isolated, though he often mutters, âThis is way too animeâ under his breath.
Yuu and Malleus
Malleus is enchanted by Yuuâs celestial powers, finding them reminiscent of ancient myths and legends.
Yuu enjoys Malleusâs thoughtful nature and often invites him to stargaze, teaching him about the constellations of Astralis.
Their bond is built on mutual respect and curiosity, with Malleus sharing fae lore in exchange for Yuu's stories of Astralis lore.
Yuu gently teases Malleus about his tendency to walk around at night, always managing to coax a rare smile from him.

Halfa Cass 9 part 3
Masterpost
TW for canon-typical violence under the read more, minor character death
Unfortunately, there was so only so much Danny could stretch out his production process when Brick started hovering over his shoulder. Brick didnât seem that bright, if Danny was honest. But he was clearly on the lookout for foot-dragging.Â
That meant Danny was mostly done with the outer casing on the second cannon when Brick looked up abruptly and cursed. Brick pulled a gun out of his pocket and pointed it at Danny.
Danny was still busy soldering metal and it took him a few seconds to parse that he was supposed to be under threat right now. He blinked at Brick. â...Sorry, what?â
âSack of shit!â Brick cursed, lip curled up. His silly little mustache rotated and stuck out at a weird angle. His eyes were wild. âWho did you tell?â
Danny shrugged awkwardly. Should he like, pretend he was afraid of the gun? Should he defend himself? He looked down at his soldering gun. Um. He probably, uh, shouldnât⌠use that on Brick, right? It wasnât like the guy could do anything to him.
Brick jabbed the gun further into Dannyâs personal space. Brickâs head exploded with red mush.
Danny blinked.
Brick slumped to the floor. The gun clattered away. Blood gushed furiously across the floor and immediately ruined Dannyâs shoes. Fuck. Brickâs soul sputtered in consideration of evolution. It pulsed, once, twice, and then harmlessly dissolved, passing onto the next life without all the drama of becoming restless dead.
âŚLucky.
Danny turned off the soldering gun and pushed up the protective eye mask he had on for work with a disgusted grunt. Between that and the breathing protection, there wasnât much of Brick on him except in his hair. Oh. No. He made a face and wiped at his forehead with the back of a sleeve before anything could get into his eyes. Brick was dripping down his forehead, nasty!!Â
A gun cocked. âYeah, yeah,â Danny acknowledged. He huffed and leaned over to grab at a shop rag. âUgh!â He did his best to clean up. âThis is gross. Just plain gross,â he bitched.
Footsteps walked down the metal stairs. âYou work for me now,â said someone else that Danny had never seen before. Bigger guy. Older, ugly. He was balding and slightly gone to seed. Danny wasnât exactly charmed.
Danny grunted. âMy rate is 70 an hour,â he said. It had been 50 for the last group, but clearly his reputation had gone around enough for him to be recruited.
The gun pressed up against his forehead. âNo, itâs not.âÂ
âYeah, it fucking is, and I need $14 right now to go to the laundromat.â Danny made a gimme gesture. He ignored the gun to his head and jutted his chin out, ready for an argument. âYouâre going to get rid of that, right? I do not do body disposal. I donât have relevant expertise. That would be a sucky reason to get caught by the cops.â
The thug laughed. He put his gun back in his pocket and casually kicked at the recently emptied body. âI like you, kid,â he said genially. âSure. Iâll tell the boss your rate. And I can get your laundry done. Donât want your Mom to see you covered in blood?â He laughed again, like the thought of a teenager having to hide their criminal involvement was somehow funny.
Danny shrugged, not quite willing to lie that the feeling was mutual. This guy seemed like a dick.
âWhatâs this?â The new guy started nosing through the worktable, getting his grubby hands all over Dannyâs beautiful new bazooka. He hefted it up and pointed it at Danny with a mean little smile. âWhatâs this do?â
Danny tried very hard not to go stiff. For the very first time, it occurred to him that he might be walking a little too close to the fire by making weapons that he could be harmed by. âMatter displacement tech,â he said casually. âWorks on shit like doors.â
âDoors, huh.â
âYupp.âÂ
At this range, it would displace most of Dannyâs torso. He tried not to calculate how many days it would take him to regenerate from a hit like that.
The man lifted his eyebrows, but he put the bazooka back down. âYouâre pretty unflappable, kid,â he commented. He rifled through Dannyâs odds and ends with a careless hand, messing up the neat organization. âOnce youâve finished that, Iâll come back and pay you for it⌠How many work days is one of these things?â
âTakes about two days to do one solo, can get two done in three days,â Danny said tonelessly.Â
His new contact grunted. âWeâre going to need weapons from you next,â he said, as if it was just a fact.
âI donât do weapons,â Danny said. He shrugged. âSorry, itâs just not my specialty. I can get you the list of specs for what I can do, though, Iââ
âYou can do weapons,â he got cut off. The older man gave him a disdainful look. âYour girlfriendâs a co-ed, yeah? Cutie. Gotta work like a big man to keep her paid up.â He clapped Danny on the shoulder. âBe smart. I'll send someone to clean up.â He turned on his heel and left.
Danny stood there, taking a few moments to buffer that bullshit. The penny dropped.
âEw. Jazz?! They think Iâm dating Jazz? Thatâs nasty.â
âŚWait.
âOh, fuck. He knows about Jazz. Theyâre threatening Jazz.â

I See Red (Part 2)
Simon "Ghost" Riley x 141!Reader
Read part 1 here
Summary: A tech expert lends her expertise to the 141 for a mission. Itâs not her fault that sheâs tall, beautiful, and perfect. But it is her fault that she canât keep her goddamn hands to herself. How else are you supposed to react when you walk in to find her lips on your Ghost?  Warnings: allusions to cheating, manhandling (I mean, thereâs just so much man to handleâŚoh and also he throws reader over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes), angst, fluff, fluff, fluff, illusions to smut at the end but nothing specific (womp womp I knoooow) A/N: The happy ending Simon deserves after such a frightful misunderstanding. Poor bb is having such a rough day :(
Simon finds you pacing your room, footsteps leaving a veritable trail as you strut from end to end in the confined space.Â
One of the benefits to being a high-ranking member on an elite task force? You get your own room. Itâs not much, barely enough room for a simple cot and a few tactical furniture pieces for storage, but itâs private. And right now, youâre quite thankful for the privacy, not wanting all of your business to be aired out in front of the whole squad.Â
âHow could you, Simon?â Your hurt is palpable, and Simonâs heart constricts at the sound. He never wanted to be the reason for your pain.Â
âListen, it wasnât what it looked like,â Simon starts before you interrupt him.Â
âNo??â You scoff. âSo she wasnât kissing you? She didnât have your mask up? She hasnât been flirting with you nonstop over the last two fucking weeks then?â You rattled off each allegation, your volume increasing with every accusation you spit at him.Â
Despite your best attempts to prevent it, you feel the tell-tale prickling sensation of tears forming in your eyes. You will them to stay put. The last thing you want is to look even more pitiful and pathetic than you already feel.Â
Simonâs chest aches as he sees the tears glisten in your eyes, a culmination of your hurt. He pulls his mask off over his head, hoping you can see the sincerity in his face.Â
âIt wasnât like that,â he tries to explain. âShe kissed me. I would never do that you, sweetheart.âÂ
âSo Iâm supposed to believe that you donât care about gorgeous, voluptuous women with beautiful red hair who fawn over your every move?â Your gaze hardens as you hurl the accusation at his feet.Â
Simon is at a loss or words. He hadnât given Bex a second thought once she showed up. Hadnât thought anything more than that she must be good at her job for Price to have brought her on board.Â
The sea of confusion threatens to overwhelm Simon as he struggles to keep his head above water. Throw him on a high stakes mission anytimeâhell, throw him directly into enemy combat over this. His head is spinning. How did all of this happen? First, the kiss from hell that came out of nowhere, then this wave of jealousy from you. Simon makes the connection as soon as the thoughts flow through his mind. This has to have been the root of your foul mood over the last two weeks, the reason behind your snarky comments and bitter conversations.Â
Misinterpreting his stunned silence, you let out a bitter laugh. âI thought so. You know what? Fuck this. I donât need this. JustâŚâ you inhale sharply. âJust go back to her.âÂ
A lead weight drops into Simonâs stomach. âNo.â The word is barely more than a whisper. He feels like the floor is being yanked out from under him. His world is spinning. No. He thinks to himself. Not you. He canât lose you.Â
He closes the space between you in two strides, hands curling around your wrists in desperation, eyes pleading. âListen. To. Me.â His staccato words are accentuated with his firm, but gentle, grip. âPlease.âÂ
You avoid his eyes, knowing those deep chocolate orbs would have you folding in an instant.Â
âNo,â you spit out. âI donât want to hear it.âÂ
You tug yourself free from his grasp and turn to the door, ripping it open and stepping into the cold air.Â
Like hell was Ghost going to let you walk away from this.Â
You make it all of five steps from the door in the time it takes Ghost to come to his senses and high tail it after you. Without another thought, he reaches forward and grabs both your legs right out from under you, hoisting you over his shoulder in a firemanâs carry.Â
âGhost!â You shriek, unable to hold back your shock. A laugh bubbles up from inside you at the pure absurdity of the movement. âWhat the hell are you doing?âÂ
âMaking you fucking listen for once in your life,â Ghost grunts as he hauls you back into the room, tossing you onto your bed.Â
The mattress sinks beneath his weight as he sits next to you, his face taking on a serious expression. He reaches for your hands, his own mammoth hands swallowing yours whole. The motion sobers you, all humor from the previous moments erased.Â
âYa know Iâm not one for speeches, but Iâve got something important to say. And youâre going to bloody listen, got it?âÂ
He takes your silence as approval to keep going.Â
âI swear to you, I didnât kiss her, alright? She pulled up my mask and kissed me before I could even register what was happening. You have to believe meâI would never do that to you. I couldnât bear the thought of losing you like that.â He swallows hard as it dawns on him just how close he came to that being his reality. He fears he almost lost you for good.
âAnd to answer your question from earlier, no. Iâve never thought of her like that. Not once. I havenât thought of anyone else like that. Not since I first saw you all those years ago. You remember?â
You shake your head. âOf course not, Simon. It was like three years ago.â
âNot to me. To me, it feels like it was yesterday. When I saw you hop off that helo, I knew I was done in. Fucking hell, I said. From the moment I saw your face, I was a goner.âÂ
His hands drop your own as he reaches up to cup your face. You say nothing, but you donât pull away from him either. And for Ghost, thatâs enough.Â
âYou mean everything to me. Everything. I trust you with my life on the battle field. I trust you with my innermost thoughts and feelings in here, when itâs just you and me. Canât you trust me in the same way?âÂ
A feeling of shame washes over you and you lower your gaze. The realization dawns on you, you hadnât even given him a chance to explain. Remorse pools in your gut.Â
âHow could I possibly be thinking of another woman, when I spent every waking minute of my day thinking about you, thinking about us, thinking about our future together?â
At that, your eyes glance up to meet his. âA future?âÂ
The corner of Simonâs mouth tugs upwards in a coy smile. âWell, yeah. If thatâs the kind of thing you want.âÂ
You sigh deeply, feeling every last ounce of fight drain from your body.Â
âIâm so sorry, Si,â you whisper in the space between your bodies. âI should have given you a chance to explain.â
Simon doesnât have words to explain the relief that floods his body as you lean forward, allowing him to wrap his arms around you and hold you close to him.Â
âSâokay,â he mutters. âIf I had walked in on some bloke kissing you, Iâd be snapping his neck before asking a single question from you.âÂ
At that, you chuckle against his broad chest. âWell, that makes me feel better about my reaction then.â You pull back only slightly to offer him a soft smile. âI really am sorry.âÂ
âDonât be.â Simon presses his lips to your temple and savors the moment before adding, âBesides, I like seeing your jealous side. Itâs kinda hot.âÂ
âOh yeah?â You tease, sitting up and popping one leg over Simonâs lap to straddle him. âHow hot?âÂ
âFucking hell woman,â Simon groans with a playful roll of his eyes. âYouâll be the fucking death of me.âÂ
âSâthat so?â You shamelessly plant open mouthed kisses along his chiseled jaw, down his exposed throat. With fluid, practiced movements, you slide off the bed and come to your knees in front of him. âLeast youâll die a happy man,â you smirk before unbuttoning his trousers and showing Simon just how well and truly sorry you are.Â
Epilogue(ish):
Bex is on the first flight out the next day. The laptop was decrypted and the short-term mission accomplished, so thereâs really no reason for her to stay any longer. And, of course, thereâs the lingering threat of potentially losing some beloved limbs at the hands of one furious Ghost. On top of that, Bex isnât entirely positive that you wonât come seek your own type of revenge for touching what clearly, definitively belongs to you. And she quite likes the idea of staying alive.Â

How to Buy a Computer for Cheaper
Buy refurbished. And I'm going to show you how, and, in general, how to buy a better computer than you currently have. I'm fairly tech-knowledgeable, but not an expert. But this is how I've bought my last three computers for personal use and business (graphics). I'm writing this for people who barely know computers. If you have a techie friend or family member, having them help can do a lot for the stress of buying a new computer.
There are three numbers you want to know from your current computer: hard drive size, RAM, and processor speed (slightly less important, unless you're doing gaming or 3d rendering or something else like that)
We're going to assume you use Windows, because if you use Apple I can't help, sorry.
First is hard drive. This is how much space you have to put files. This is in bytes. These days all hard drives are in gigabytes or terabytes (1000 gigabytes = 1 terabyte). To get your hard drive size, open Windows Explorer, go to This PC (or My Computer if you have a really old OS).
To get more details, you can right-click on the drive. and open Properties. But now you know your hard drive size, 237 GB in this case. (this is rather small, but that's okay for this laptop). If you're planning on storing a lot of videos, big photos, have a lot of applications, etc, you want MINIMUM 500 GB. You can always have external drives as well.
While you've got this open, right-click on This PC (or My Computer). This'll give you a lot of information that can be useful if you're trying to get tech support.
I've underlined in red the two key things. Processor: it can help to know the whole bit (or at least the Intel i# bit) just so you don't buy one that's a bunch older, but processor models are confusing and beyond me. The absolutely important bit is the speed, in gigahertz (GHz). Bigger is faster. The processor speed is how fast your computer can run. In this case the processor is 2.60 GHz, which is just fine for most things.
The other bit is RAM. This is "random-access memory" aka memory, which is easy to confuse for, like how much space you have. No. RAM is basically how fast your computer can open stuff. This laptop has 16 GB RAM. Make sure you note that this is the RAM, because it and the hard drive use the same units.
If you're mostly writing, use spreadsheets, watching streaming, or doing light graphics work 16 GB is fine. If you have a lot of things open at a time or gaming or doing 3d modeling or digital art, get at least 32 GB or it's gonna lag a lot.
In general, if you find your current laptop slow, you want a new one with more RAM and a processor that's at least slightly faster. If you're getting a new computer to use new software, look at the system requirements and exceed them.
I'll show you an example of that. Let's say I wanted to start doing digital art on this computer, using ClipStudio Paint. Generally the easiest way to find the requirements is to search for 'program name system' in your search engine of choice. You can click around their website if you want, but just searching is a lot faster.
That gives me this page
(Clip Studio does not have very heavy requirements).
Under Computer Specs it tells you the processor types and your RAM requirements. You're basically going to be good for the processor, no matter what. That 2 GB minimum of memory is, again, the RAM.
Storage space is how much space on your hard drive it needs.
Actually for comparison, let's look at the current Photoshop requirements.
Photoshop wants LOTS of speed and space, greedy bastard that it is. (The Graphics card bit is somewhat beyond my expertise, sorry)
But now you have your three numbers: hard drive space, RAM (memory) and processor (CPU). Now we're going to find a computer that's better and cheaper than buying new!
We're going to buy ~refurbished~
A refurbished computer is one that was used and then returned and fixed up to sell again. It may have wear on the keyboard or case, but everything inside (aside from the battery) should be like new. (The battery may hold less charge.) A good dealer will note condition. And refurbished means any flaws in the hardware will be fixed. They have gone through individual quality control that new products don't usually.
I've bought four computers refurbished and only had one dud (Windows kept crashing during set-up). The dud has been returned and we're waiting for the new one.
You can buy refurbished computers from the manufacturers (Lenovo, Dell, Apple, etc) or from online computer stores (Best Buy and my favorite Newegg). You want to buy from a reputable store because they'll have warranties offered and a good return policy.
I'm going to show you how to find a refurbished computer on Newegg.
You're going to go to Newegg.com, you're gonna go to computer systems in their menu, and you're gonna find refurbished
Then, down the side there's a ton of checkboxes where you can select your specifications. If there's a brand you prefer, select that (I like Lenovos A LOT - they last a long time and have very few problems, in my experience. Yes, this is a recommendation).
Put in your memory (RAM), put in your hard drive, put in your CPU speed (processor), and any other preferences like monitor size or which version of Windows you want (I don't want Windows 11 any time soon). I generally just do RAM and hard drive and manually check the CPU, but that's a personal preference. Then hit apply and it'll filter down.
I'm going to say right now, if you are getting a laptop and you can afford to get a SSD, do it. SSD is a solid-state drive, vs a normal hard drive (HDD, hard disk-drive). They're less prone to breaking down and they're faster. But they're also more expensive.
Anyway, we have our filtered list of possible laptops. Now what?
Well, now comes the annoying part. Every model of computer can be different - it can have a better or worse display, it can have a crappy keyboard, or whatever. So you find a computer that looks okay, and you then look for reviews.
Here's our first row of results
Let's take a look at the Lenovo, because I like Lenovos and I loathe Dells (they're... fine...). That Thinkpad T460S is the part to Google (search for 'Lenovo Thinkpad T460s reviews'). Good websites that I trust include PCMag, LaptopMag.com, and Notebookcheck.com (which is VERY techie about displays). But every reviewer will probably be getting one with different specs than the thing you're looking at.
Here are key things that will be the same across all of them: keyboard (is it comfortable, etc), battery life, how good is the trackpad/nub mouse (nub mice are immensely superior to trackpads imho), weight, how many and what kind of ports does it have (for USB, an external monitor, etc). Monitors can vary depending on the specs, so you'll have to compare those. Mostly you're making sure it doesn't completely suck.
Let's go back to Newegg and look at the specs of that Lenovo. Newegg makes it easy, with tabs for whatever the seller wants to say, the specs, reviews, and Q&A (which is usually empty).
This is the start of the specs. This is actually a lesser model than the laptop we were getting the specs for. It's okay. What I don't like is that the seller gives very little other info, for example on condition. Here's a Dell with much better information - condition and warranty info.
One thing you'll want to do on Newegg is check the seller's reviews. Like on eBay or Etsy, you have to use some judgement. If you worry about that, going to the manufacturer's online outlet in a safer bet, but you won't quite get as good of deals. But they're still pretty damn good as this random computer on Lenovo's outlet shows.
Okay, so I think I've covered everything. I do recommend having a techie friend either help or double check things if you're not especially techie. But this can save you hundreds of dollars or allow you to get a better computer than you were thinking.
